There are products out there lurking in the shadows that we walk by every day because "no way" do we think we can eat them. But maybe you can!!!
Let's bring these products into the light and see if they can be added to your safe food stockpile.
I can't wait to watch this list grow.
Bird's Custard Powder is a British product readily available on Amazon. It's corn starch based so it works well with plant-based milk.
I made this with oat milk and added banana and it formed a respectable pudding. The next day though, it had taken on the texture of Jello. The taste was still good, but it no longer had a pudding-like consistency.
Parfaits, creme pies, alone topped with granola and fruit. Bird's could be versatile.
Lots of Pillsbury products (biscuits, crescent rolls, cornbread swirls) do not include eggs or milk. But keep in mind that Pillsbury makes a lot of different types of biscuits, so you need to check the ingredients. You may see the "may contain milk ingredients" disclaimer.
If you are allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, soy and/or eggs, you know that finding a protein bar can be really difficult. Probar has some solutions in their otherwise nutty lineup of products if you are okay with soy and sunflower lecithin. Chocolate Brownie, Mint Chocolate, Coffee Crunch are all peanut and tree nut free. I used them at a soccer tournament a while back and found them to be a nice addition to my usual rotation of 3 - 5 protein bars.
